Mission

The Inspection Department performs the regulatory and quality assurance requirements for LAUSD and DSA on school construction projects.

Project Inspectors are embedded project team members, providing oversight of Code concerns, but also committed to the proactive identification of construction and design conflicts.
 
Our mandate is to ensure that a project’s contract requirements are achieved, resulting in timely project certification and maximum facility life capacity with minimum maintenance.

Guiding Principles

The following principles and requirements guide the Inspection Department's efforts:
  • Education Code, sections 17280-17317
  • California Building Standards Administrative Code
  • (Part 1, Title 24, California Code of Regulations)
  • Article 5. 4-333 (b): "The School Board must provide for and require competent, adequate and continuous inspection."
  • Article 6. 4-342 (b)(1): "The project inspector must have personal knowledge obtained by personal and continuous inspection of the work of construction in all stages of its progress."
