Project & Design Management Department

The Project & Design Management Department leads the planning and design of school modernization and improvement projects, ensuring that LAUSD facilities meet both current and future educational needs. The department plays a key role in defining, planning, and overseeing the execution of school construction, modernization, and improvement projects as part of the Capital Bond Program. From initial concept through final completion, the team manages complex design and construction efforts that support safe, functional, and modern learning environments aligned with LAUSD’s educational mission.

Core Responsibilities

  • Define and develop projects that align with Bond Program goals, providing strategic leadership for facility development and modernization
  • Procure and manage architects, engineers, and other consultants to deliver high-quality learning environments
  • Oversee program and project budgets, schedules, and resources to ensure cost-effective and timely delivery
  • Ensure all projects comply with District standards as well as local, state, and federal regulations
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to gather input, maintain transparency, and manage expectations
